Its Lauries turn at THE BOB BLOG. So heres our Baja tale...
We started the trip on the Sea of Cortez, in the town of San Felipe. With 30 degree temps and sandy beaches we figured we'd stay all week- however the long easter weekend and college spring break turned San Felipe into this:

And this... (drag racing on the beach)

We watched and laughed and then drove far far away. We found the hot sunny beach we were looking for, and a few other neat things along the way...

Sun, 30 degrees, and nowhere to be... except at the ice cream stand.

Our camp site nite #1

Puertecitos, a small fishing village south of San Felipe

We consulted Lonely Planet and decided to head for the hills and check out a national park with a lakeside campsite at 4000 ft. Heres what was left of the lake...

We went boulder hiking on the endless boulder mountains

Next we drove to the pacific and up to San Diego. On the way through Tijuana, I was pulled over by the Mexican Police for eating a churro (sticks of fried dough) while driving. We couldn't believe it- you'd think there might be way more illegal things going on in Tijuana while he was inspecting our churros... Luckily the officer ended up letting us go, fine (and bribe) free!

Contrary to prediction Bob survived and enjoyed the Mexican food. He managed 4 fish tacos a day, and was a regular at the local bakery.

We made it through the border without even a glance from US homeland security, and drove up to San Diego. We found a beach front hostel to call home for a few nites- here was our view and dinner table...

We checked out the beaches and found the paragliders launching area

On our last day we thought we better try out the surf. With 9 foot foam boards, anything is possible...

It was a great holiday and adventure. Bob impressed me with his Spanish- later I found out he was either asking: how much? or wheres the food? But I can't complain- we didn't spend many pesos and were always well fed. I'm already looking forward to (and planning) the next sunny holiday.
